Kill the Static Character Sheet: Introducing Arc Points
Every writer knows the lie of the character sheet. You spend hours crafting it before you write a single chapter, defining your hero’s hopes, fears, and personality. And by Chapter 5, it’s already obsolete. Your character has evolved, but their official record hasn't.
Every writer knows the lie of the character sheet.
You spend hours crafting it before you write a single chapter. You define your hero’s hopes, their fears, their personality, their fatal flaw. You have a perfect, static snapshot.
And by Chapter 5, it’s already obsolete.
Your hero has faced their first real test, and the "hopeful optimist" you wrote down now has a streak of cynicism. After the betrayal in Chapter 10, their "trusting nature" is a distant memory. After the climactic battle, their physical description is no longer accurate.
Your character has evolved, but their official record hasn't. You're now juggling their entire history in your head, trying to remember which version of them you're writing in any given scene. The AI, just like a static document, is stuck with the original blueprint, leading to inconsistencies that pull the reader—and you—out of the story.
Today, that changes. We’re thrilled to introduce Arc Points, a revolutionary feature that transforms your character files from static photographs into living, breathing timelines.
Your Character is Not a Snapshot. They're a Story.
An arc isn't just a concept; it's a series of concrete, definable moments of change. Arc Points allow you to capture these moments directly within your character's profile.
When a pivotal event happens in your story, you can now create a snapshot of your character in that exact moment.
Think of it like this: your main character file is the Base Profile—your character on Page 1.
- After they survive the ambush in Scene 12, you click "+ Add Arc Point". You name it "Survivor's Guilt" and describe the changes to their personality.
- After they master a new skill in Scene 25, you add another Arc Point: " newfound confidence."
- After they lose their arm in Scene 32, you add an Arc Point: "Broken but Resilient," and you update their physical description.
Your character page is no longer a single, outdated document. It's a timeline of their evolution, a film reel of their entire journey.
The Magic: Timeline-Aware AI
This is where everything comes together. Having a record of change is great, but making it useful is the key.
When you go to generate a new scene, the Reference Elements feature is now timeline-aware. When you start typing your character's name, AI Story Hub doesn't just show you the character. It shows you every version of them you've created.
Imagine you're writing a scene late in your story. Your small drone sidekick, Bravey, has undergone some... significant changes. When you reference Bravey, you can now tell the AI exactly which version to use:
- Writing a flashback to the beginning? Reference the Base "Bravey" to capture its original, pristine state.
- Writing a stealth mission? Reference the "Nano Bravey" Arc Point, and the AI will know to describe its smaller form and capabilities.
- Writing the climactic battle? Reference the "Bravey turns into a HUGE drone" Arc Point, and the AI will describe the hulking, weaponized version of your character, all based on the descriptions you provided.
The AI now has perfect, pinpoint context for any moment in your character's history.
What This Unlocks for You
1. Bulletproof Consistency: The AI will never forget a crucial change again. New scars, altered motivations, broken trusts—if you've created an Arc Point for it, the AI will know.
2. Effortless Flashbacks: Writing a scene from your hero's past is no longer a memory game. Simply reference their Base Profile or an early Arc Point to ensure every detail is historically accurate to that moment in time.
3. Intentional Character Development: This feature encourages you to be a more deliberate writer. It prompts you to ask: "What event caused this change?" and "What, specifically, is different now?" It turns abstract character development into a concrete, actionable process.
4. A True Creative Partner: This is the ultimate expression of our philosophy. By giving you the tools to provide deep, evolving context, you transform the AI from a simple text generator into a co-pilot that is deeply, intelligently invested in your character's journey.
The static character sheet is dead. Your characters deserve to live, to change, to break, and to be reborn on the page.
Arc Points are now live for all users. Go to one of your characters, and mark the first moment everything changed.
